This finished construction project made headlines! It made the front page of The Tombstone News paper. One of the biggest challenges for this project, was not necessarily the construction itself, it was the eviction of the current residents, BEES! Grail Construction coordinated work with a local bee expert for the removal of the bees. You can see a video of the bee removal here.
After the bee and termite mitigation, Grail construction went right to work on the structural repair of the front facade. This involved inventory and cataloging of all wood elements facade, replacement of the elements, manufacturing and installation of new finials, as well as structural lintel installation.
Another big part of this project was brick repair at window openings which allowed for new energy efficient and historically correct windows. Grail Construction topped off this project with a new roof installation, stucco repair, paint, and rebuild of the bell tower.
No more bees, sunshine coming in through the windows, and a fresh new look for this historical Tombstone gem for visitors and residents to enjoy alike! The Tombstone City Hall is one of the town's oldest buildings. It was built in 1882 and was placed on the national register of historic places in 1972.
Grail Construction was proud to work with Architect, David E. Shambach and Project Manager appointed for Tombstone, Mac McMillan with Brown & Associates for this excellent and historically accurate renovation.
